Sexual Pressures

A lot of media in our generation sells due to sex, drugs, and music. Unlike prior decades, these three topics never get out of style in today's society. I was recently watching the new episode of How I Met Your Mother, in which the character-Robin get's proposed to by her boyfriend, Kevin. Though she doesn't say no or yes, she asks for more time to think about her decision. Later in the episode we find out that Robin is sterile, and will never be able to conceive children. Though, this does not bother Kevin, Robin later tells him that she CAN'T have babies, but also does not WANT to. He decides to call the proposal off.

During the episode, Ted-the main character, along with Barney, go to a "drunk train" which is the last train of the night, where people are so drunk that they will have sex with anyone on the train. Throughout the episode, Ted and Barney figure out ways of finding the right girl to sleep with. What norms in our society dictate that men need to hunt for sex, and that women are so easy to sleep with once they are drunk. The fact, that such a concept-the Drunk Train-exists is what causes our society to treat women in a fragile, less competent way.
