Today I saw an image on the internet that kind of disturbed me. The image compared women to Wi-Fi basically saying that women are searching for the strongest device and that men connect to women but then look for other women. To me this speaks volumes about the expectations that people have of men and women when it come to relationships and trying to find a mate. This plays into the double standard that we always see that women are supposed to be with one person and one person only; and men are allowed to and supposed to in a way have multiple partners. If women have multiple partners they are seen as sluts and it isn't viewed as normal or natural for women for them to be with more than one person. Men are expected to have multiple partners wether it be sexually or emotionally and are viewed in a positive light when they do so. This image comparing gender expectations to technology really highlights the double standards that are now considered normal.
